Saturday, June 27, a workshop on DIY graywater hands-on training-- you will know what is required to build a graywater system that takes your laundry water to the landscape –- saving water in a drought, and the energy to treat and pump the water you would have sent to the sewer! Sign up here Graywater Training to be a part of 350Sacramento’s new climate and water initiative – respond to drought and climate change by being part of the solution! This lively interesting workshop will be taught by a nationally recognized water expert, and an experienced graywater installer.

Saturday, July 11. Stop Oil Trains Vigil and Demonstration showing the impact of oil train explosion in downtown Sacramento. Be a part of an international memorial to the victims of the Lac Megantic oil train disaster. Send a message NOW that the move to bring massive oil trains through downtown Sacramento will be resisted. Join thousands of demonstrators in Canada and the US demanding that we keep the oil in the ground. Beginning at 11 am we will line up along a route in downtown Sacramento from the railroad station to the Capitol illustrating the blast zone from a possible explosion downtown. Wear a red, yellow, or orange shirt, and we will have some signs, or bring your own. The demonstration will conclude with a rolling up of the demonstration marching together along the demonstration route and gathering at the capitol for a brief rally.

Coal Be Gone! SB 185 –Coal Divestment from CalPERS and CalSTRS
SB 185 survived the state senate mostly intact. Now it’s in the tougher chamber, the Assembly. It will be a numbers game in the Assembly. The more co-sponsors, the more likely the bill withstands any challenges.
You can help by writing a quick postcard to your Assemblymember. Ask them to co-sponsor SB 185. If you are a member of CalPERS or CalSTRS, please write that on your postcard.
Investing in coal does not provide meaningful returns to the retirement funds. And we know that coal emissions are a major contributor to a warming atmosphere and changing climate.
