Will the City of Sacramento Raise the Minimum Wage?

2:06 PM Humanity Frameworks 0 Comments Category : ,

On Jan. 1, 2016, the State minimum wage will increase from $9 to $10 per hour.  Meanwhile, the City of Sacramento is evaluating recommendations to raise its minimum wage higher.

In early September, a Task Force convened by Mayor Kevin Johnson released a recommendation to raise the minimum wage in the City of Sacramento to $12.50 per hour by 2020. This is a 38% increase from today’s minimum wage ($9/hr).

On October 13, City Council is expected to review this proposal and will likely take a vote to determine the future of minimum wage in the City of Sacramento. The Task Force recommendation is by no means the final proposal.
